Observations and direct interactions reveal that some IPIS lecturers lack confidence in using the English language in formal and informal situations .This special programme is planned to support the IPIS lecturers improve their English Language proficiency. Lecturers performance in the English Language can be improved with more exposure through well planned activities. Regular and frequent use of the language inside as well as outside the classroom is the target of this special programme. This programme creates a conducive environment for purposeful and meaningful use of the English Language through strategically planned activities. THE ENGLISH ESCAPADE is one of the activities planned under ELCB. It marks the launching of ELCB for the institute. It is the driving force for all the other programmes under ELCB to materialize. This little escapade is hoped to :
* create purposeful and meaningful situations to develop lecturers’ English Language proficiency
* to encourage use of the English Language in formal and informal situations
* to increase the frequency of the language used on a daily basis
* to support and promote learning of the language in a fun and enjoyable manner
